1	不要為明日自誇，因為一日要生何事，你尚且不能知道。
			Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
		2	要別人誇獎你，不可用口自誇；等外人稱讚你，不可用嘴自稱。
			Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
		3	石頭重，沙土沉，愚妄人的惱怒比這兩樣更重。
			A stone heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath heavier than them both.
		4	忿怒為殘忍，怒氣為狂瀾，惟有嫉妒，誰能敵得住呢？
			Wrath cruel, and anger outrageous; but who able to stand before envy?
		5	當面的責備強如背地的愛情。
			Open rebuke better than secret love.
		6	朋友加的傷痕出於忠誠；仇敵連連親嘴卻是多餘。
			Faithful the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy deceitful.
		7	人吃飽了，厭惡蜂房的蜜；人飢餓了，一切苦物都覺甘甜。
			The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
		8	人離本處飄流，好像雀鳥離窩遊飛。
			As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so a man that wandereth from his place.
		9	膏油與香料使人心喜悅；朋友誠實的勸教也是如此甘美。
			Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
		10	你的朋友和父親的朋友，你都不可離棄。你遭難的日子，不要上弟兄的家去；相近的鄰舍強如遠方的弟兄。
			Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: better a neighbour near than a brother far off.
		11	我兒，你要作智慧人，好叫我的心歡喜，使我可以回答那譏誚我的人。
			My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
		12	通達人見禍藏躲；愚蒙人前往受害。
			A prudent foreseeth the evil, hideth himself; the simple pass on, are punished.
		13	誰為生人作保，就拿誰的衣服；誰為外女作保，誰就承當。
			Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
		14	清晨起來，大聲給朋友祝福的，就算是咒詛他。
			He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
		15	大雨之日連連滴漏，和爭吵的婦人一樣；
			A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
		16	想攔阻他的，便是攔阻風，也是右手抓油。
			Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, bewrayeth .
		17	鐵磨鐵，磨出刃來；朋友相感（原文作磨朋友的臉）也是如此。
			Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
		18	看守無花果樹的，必吃樹上的果子；敬奉主人的，必得尊榮。
			Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
		19	水中照臉，彼此相符；人與人，心也相對。
			As in water face to face, so the heart of man to man.
		20	陰間和滅亡永不滿足；人的眼目也是如此。
			Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
		21	鼎為煉銀，爐為煉金，人的稱讚也試煉人。
			As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so a man to his praise.
		22	你雖用杵將愚妄人與打碎的麥子一同搗在臼中，他的愚妄還是離不了他。
			Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, will not his foolishness depart from him.
		23	你要詳細知道你羊群的景況，留心料理你的牛群；
			Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, look well to thy herds.
		24	因為資財不能永有，冠冕豈能存到萬代？
			For riches not for ever: and doth the crown to every generation?
		25	乾草割去，嫩草發現，山上的菜蔬也被收斂。
			The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
		26	羊羔之毛是為你作衣服；山羊是為作田地的價值，
			The lambs for thy clothing, and the goats the price of the field.
		27	並有母山羊奶夠你吃，也夠你的家眷吃，且夠養你的婢女。
			And goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and the maintenance for thy maidens.
